Wrought iron accents can add a decorative touch to many areas of your home and are among the most popular items sold at any home goods and wall art store. Especially if your home is decorated in a Mediterranean or Tuscan style, wrought iron accents can blend in nicely, adding an authentic decorative appearance. Wrought iron looks great whether it is used inside or outside the home. When used inside, decorative iron accents added to your doors can complement other wrought iron decorating accents used inside, like unique wall candle holders or wall grille. Exterior doors can also benefit from these decorative accents, especially when other wrought iron accents are used as part of the exterior home decor.

There are many different options when adding wrought iron accents to a door, ranging from simple door knockers and decorative plaques to forged wrought iron door accents that take the form of bars and features that completely integrate with the door and door frame. In fact, certain types of wrought iron accents can even enhance the overall security of your home.

Wrought Iron Security Features

If you have a desire to add some additional security as well as style to your home, wrought iron gates and doors that are designed for your home's entryways can be a great choice. Doors designed from wrought iron can be either simple in nature, or can have elaborate curls and flourishes that can add a truly decorative and distinctive look to your home. The decorative styles are especially nice, as they add security in a somewhat "invisible" fashion, since the overall impression you get from this style of door is one of decoration instead of security. Some styles of wrought iron doors also include glass light panels around the door, which can add to the overall beauty of your home while increasing the amount of light that can enter your home. If you add one of these doors to your home, you can further accentuate the visual effect by adding wrought iron stair or porch railings in a matching style.

Wrought Iron Decorating Features

Although wrought iron doors are certainly beautiful and practical, if you already have an exterior door that you are perfectly happy with, there are some other decorating touches you can use to add the look of wrought iron to your decor. This can look especially attractive if you have other wrought iron decorating features around the door, such as a wrought iron porch rail or stair rails. You could replace your existing door knob or door pull with one made from wrought iron, which can add a decorative and functional touch. When replacing the door knob or pull, you might also want to replace the original door hinges with those styled from wrought iron, especially if they are visually prominent. This can create a nice coordinated look. Wrought iron door knockers are also a great way of adding a touch of style to your front door. Door knockers come in a wide variety of styles varying from traditional to whimsical, which can help you add your own personal touch to welcome guests to your home.
